The views over landscapes and places of creation are a sober survey of an environment shaped by time and marble sculpture, which has a centuries-long tradition.  &lt;h3&gt;Fear is an experience that reminds us that we are animals.&lt;\/h3&gt;  Adrenaline flows through our bodies, our hearts pound and sweat pours from our foreheads when we feel a threat to our well-being. The neural science and biochemistry behind it all is complex, but the net result is very simple: fear helps us survive.    Zygmunt Bauman in his book &#039;Liquid Fear&#039; analyzes the widespread penetration of fear into modern Western life and its consequences. Ulrich Beck&#039;s theories on the risk and insecurities generated by accelerating social and technological change are along the same lines. In such an era, characterized by uncertainty and lack of trust in social structures and relationships, the individual is now faced with complex issues that he is unable to understand, let alone manage.    No longer able to slow down the pace of change, or even predict its direction, individuals focus their attention on things they feel they can control.  Avoiding sun exposure, avoiding contact with bacteria, eating fatty foods, using biometrics, &#039;protecting&#039; themselves by using cameras, fortifying themselves in gated communities are illustrative examples. In other words, fear has shifted from the realm of existential safety to the realm of self-protection.    The exhibition &#039;Beyond Fear&#039; explores the context and the ways in which this displacement takes place, which eighteen artists living and producing work in Athens and Tinos will attempt to capture.  Tinos is a place that seemingly protects its inhabitants from the dangers of urban life. Life here falls short of the anxiety that runs through an urban landscape and the &#039;other&#039; person is not necessarily a threat. Or is it not? Does fear exist here too, while the human body, social bonds, security and technology are simply perceived differently?  The aim of the exhibition is to be an encounter between geographically differentiated experiences of the same experience and to form the basis for a dialogue between the art scene of Athens and Tinos.  &lt;h3&gt;Participants:&lt;\/h3&gt; Focusing on a practice which enables him to work between physical and virtual space, he built a wind measuring device, Deiopea, with which he recorded the wind in twenty different locations on the island. The direction of the wind, the speed in meters per second, and the coordinates of each location were recorded by the device and triggered an algorithm that converted the invisible and intangible winds into shapes. awarded by the Academy of Athens, the exhibition continues its journey to Tinos Island at the Cultural Foundation of Tinos.    The title\u2019s reference to the well-known verse of the poet C. P. Cavafy (&lt;em&gt;Ithaca&lt;\/em&gt;) signals the artist\u2019s poetic approach vis-\u00e0-vis the depiction of Cycladic islands, including &lt;strong&gt;Mykonos&lt;\/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Tinos.&lt;\/strong&gt;    The works exhibited are the culmination of the artist\u2019s long research into the &lt;strong&gt;\u201cEndless Landscape\u201d.&lt;\/strong&gt; To quote him: \u201cThe landscape has always been a source of inspiration for me. I admire its variety and diversity. The seas and the fallow islets, the dry-stone walls and the meadows, the sandy beaches, the cliffs and the valleys seen from above are an evolution of my Endless Landscape, which I have been working on for many years\u201d.    Zoumboulakis uses an almost cinematic narrative, depicting nature either from a bird\u2019s eye view perspective or with close-ups. Every painting function as an autonomous expression while being integrated in an endless visual universe, without beginning or end. in collaboration with the &lt;strong&gt;Corfu Heritage Foundation&lt;\/strong&gt; presents the visual art exhibition &lt;strong&gt;\u201cEx-Staseis: Attempts at the Representation of Liberty\u201d&lt;\/strong&gt; curated by Art Historian &lt;strong&gt;Dr Megakles Rogakos&lt;\/strong&gt;.    &lt;strong&gt;Rationale:&lt;\/strong&gt; On the occasion of celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, which concerns the liberation of the nation from the Ottoman yoke and the creation of an independent nation state, the issue of liberty stands out. The Region of Ionian Islands aimed to promote the role of the national poet Dionysios Solomos with events that bear the general title \u201cHymn to Liberty\u201d. Part of these events, which include lectures and concerts, are two visual art exhibitions curated by Dr Rogakos \u2013 \u201cHymn to Liberty\u201d, a historical exhibition at the Municipal Gallery of Corfu (4 \u2013 31 August 2021), and \u201cEx-Staseis: Attempts at the Representation of Liberty\u201d, an exhibition of contemporary art at the Cultural Foundation of Tinos (10 July \u2013 10 September 2021).    &lt;strong&gt;Facts:&lt;\/strong&gt; The &lt;em&gt;Ex-Staseis&lt;\/em&gt; exhibition is thematic and concerns the evolving conception of liberty, as defined in the past and shaped by the present. The concept of liberty is multifaceted and lends itself to philosophical analysis. In the colonial past, the subject of liberty was morally instructive with the specific aim of eliminating the enslaving yoke, which was a necessary condition for the creation of an independent state with free citizens. At present, in an increasingly materialistic age, the subject is mainly about inner liberty, that is, the independence of thought and action from the gravity of authorities, superstitions, superstitions and prejudices. Looking at the cultural history of the world, only a few facts about liberty stand out. This exhibition explores the origins and evolution of the idea of \u200b\u200bliberty and examines its current significance, based on these facts.    &lt;strong&gt;Explanation:&lt;\/strong&gt; The title &lt;em&gt;Ex-Staseis&lt;\/em&gt; is a witticism, etymologically derived from the composite verb &lt;em&gt;existimi&lt;\/em&gt; (ek + istimi), which means an intense mystical experience in which the mystic eliminates contact with reality and the world of the senses and is interested in the spirit and direct communication with the divine element. Here, it has the character of a word pun that works the same in Greek and English. It means the transgression, the state of coming out of oneself, which supposedly occurs when one experiences the essence of freedom. The poster of the exhibition presents the &lt;em&gt;ptinopous&lt;\/em&gt;, the mythological human foot of Hermes that bears feathers and enables him to exceed the possibilities of walking. Here, it is of interest for the paradoxical but interesting combination of the foot as a point of contact with the earth and the wings that lift it from the ground. In this way it refers to the term &lt;em&gt;ex-staseis&lt;\/em&gt; of the exhibition, as a means of transgression from material reality towards spiritual liberation.    &lt;strong&gt;Works: &lt;\/strong&gt;The &lt;em&gt;Ex-Staseis&lt;\/em&gt; include works by contemporary Greek artists on the subject of the current dimension of the concept of freedom. 40 artists present one work each that will emerge from their research on the ecstasy that leads to intellectual freedom as transcending the boundaries of space and time. The artists are: Manolis Anastasakos, Annita Argyroiliopoulou, Nikos Basias, Thomas Bertolis, Ismini Bonatsou, Lamprini Boviatsou, Thodoros Brouskomatis, Manolis Charos, Kyriakos Chatzimichailidis, Costis, Alexandros Dimitriadis, Milly Flamburiari, Dimosthenis Gallis, Christos Garoufalis, Nikos Giavropoulos, Stella Kapezanou, Vassilis Karakatsanis, Harris Kondosphyris, Aggelika Korovessi, Vassiliki Koskiniotou, Nikos Kryonidis, Kostas Lavdas, Agalis Manessi, Panayiotis Masonidis, George Megoulas, Dimitris Miliotis, Ioannis Monogyios, Konstantinos Patsios, Margarita Petrova, Lena Platonos, Marina Provatidou, Rania Rangou, Dimitris Sevastakis, Vassilis Solidakis, Tita Stavrou, Petros Stravoravdis, Praxitelis Tzanoulinos, Katia Varvaki, Chryssa Vathianaki and Andreas Zymvragos. The works were selected based also on the criterion to be representative of the latest trends in international contemporary artistic production.    &lt;strong&gt;Album:&lt;\/strong&gt; The album that accompanies the exhibition is a broad tribute to the national anniversary of 1821. It includes studies on the Greek Revolution, presentation of the forerunners and heroes of the National Rebirth and special research, supported by the Region of Ionian Islands, on the role of the Heptanese in the National Liberation Struggle. The second part, which concerns the &lt;em&gt;Ex-Staseis&lt;\/em&gt;, includes a treatise and a brief commentary on each exhibit by the curator of the exhibition. Maniatakos was born in Flomohori, Mani, in 1935 and was buried there, according to his wish, when he passed away on February 15th, 2017.  He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1965. In 1971, he was appointed Director of the Preparatory and Vocational School of Fine Arts in Pyrgos (Tinos), which he directed until 2001, when he retired. He taught sculpture to more than 300 students, for over 30 years. His students are now artists, specialized marble-technicians working on archaeological missions or freelance marble sculptors who keep alive the tradition of the sacred island of Tinos, modern Greece\u2019s first and most important cradle of art, especially for marble art and crafts.  Maniatakos used to spend countless hours under the hot sun of the Aegean, sculpting his statues. Between 1967 and 2015, he turned to painting underwater. He chose to work in this inhospitable and mysterious seabed environment, as he believed that art is only genuine when its creator identifies with it. Underwater painting sprang from an inner urge to render the feelings of a surreptitious underworld visitor, stealthily stealing a glimpse of the indescribable beauty of this foreign world.    According to Maniatakos, sculpture had to be \u201cman-focused and remain youthful\u201d. He considered the naked human body to be the most complex object for the artist, because aside from strict proportion and symmetry requirements, the artist had to capture the individual spirit and reinterpret it on the material \u2013 and the sculptor\u2019s material is entirely different from flesh. In this respect, working under the sun is the noblest and surest way of crafting plastic art, as the artist works with natural light and shadow. All three artists are at the forefront of Canada\u2019s artistic community. In visually innovative ways they speak of and depict the physical vastness of the Canadian landscape.
